The Cityhotel Monopol promotes itself as an island of calm on Hamburg’s sinful mile (die sündige Meile). It’s a modern, multi-storey hotel with 82 guest rooms. The Monopol bar is open 24 hours; the restaurant kitchen, open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., prepares German favourites such as wiener schnitzel and herring with fried potatoes. A breakfast buffet is served in the restaurant every morning. Complimentary Wi-Fi internet access is available in the public areas on the first and second floors. The Cityhotel Monopol is located on the square called the Spielbudenplatz in the St. Pauli district. It is 1 block from the musical theater venues TUI Operettenhaus and St. Pauli Theater and the Imperial Theater cinema. The Beatles played in several clubs on the Reeperbahn in the early 1960s. A short walk from the hotel is the museum called Beatlemania Hamburg, near an intersection called the Beatles-Platz. The Cityhotel Monopol is within walking of the Reeperbahn station for the Hamburg S-Bahn train system and the St. Pauli station for the Hamburg U-Bahn subway system.
